ALF, thanks for the info. It's good to see such an ambitious Altec project. Of particular interest to me because I put it into my too-hard basket. I think this is what this forum is all about, going forward with ideas incorporating Altecs into new applications as well as celebrating what has already been achieved.

I think you are totally right, but come with new ideas or start a real discussion on this forum, has no use at all.
This forum is more like a kind of social community center for maybe 10 or 20 oldies, some negative, some frustrated, or worse...
And if someone is trying to break open this earth-fast forum, there is someone who opens this "The IGNORE Feature"
Most of them here live in their own old world, with their own old standard Altec speakers, a Behringer Equalizer and a lot of big amplifiers.

Some young people are coming a few times to this forum, some as guests, some as members, after that you don't see them back again.
There are still thousands of Altec enthusiasts in the world, why don't you see them here?
Never wondered why there are only 20 maybe 25 regular visitors here on this social community board?
Even Romy the Cat has maybe 25 times or more visitors.

One of the best threads last weeks here was this one "Logging-In Issues at Altec User Board" Isn't that typical?

No, for the present no big threads from me here on this board.
So than and when I look a little around here, sometimes lighting up this forum a little, and when I'm gone, the oldies can settle down again.

A different take on horn shelving. I came across some very cheap flat-pack wall shelves. With minor changes they are just the thing for the horn sleds.

Horn Sleds

XLR connector?

There are two connectors on each sled. One is a 4-pole Speakon(Neutrik) and the other is an XLR(Switchcraft). A 4-core cable(4x14AWG) runs to the Speakon connector and then splits to the 416B and the 802. The XLR connector is for a tweeter(optional). Why XLR? Because I already had some cable and fittings I could use and thus save some money.

Thanks - I looked again and see the Speakon now. It's a great connectors. I think that the XLR is a nice choice for the tweeter, in fact it would be fine for the horn in normal use. I may do the same thing on my rig.
